Free Concert Headlines Festival in North Chicago

Spend the day enjoying free live music during Afrofest from 2–7 pm, Saturday, August 15, at Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago.

The outdoor event for all ages features a full lineup of live performances celebrating African heritage.

Headlining the festival is Mike De'Cole, a Chicago-born R&B singer whose soulful sound and heartfelt lyrics draw from real-life experiences. His music has earned international recognition, including two songs that reached the London charts.

Special guest Men of the City musicians joins a lineup that also includes Andrea Gomez, Sparkle Motion, DWill and JaMia Àna, with performances spanning R&B, gospel, dance and spoken word throughout the day.

Between entertainment acts, visitors can enjoy food from local vendors and relax on the lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets or a picnic.

"Afrofest offers outstanding live music in a beautiful outdoor setting," said Forest Preserves Commissioner Angelo Kyle. "Whether you're coming to hear the headliner, discover a new artist or simply enjoy music with family and friends, it's a great way to experience the energy and diversity of African culture."

Afrofest takes place at Greenbelt Cultural Center, 1215 Green Bay Road, North Chicago. Admission and parking are free.
