As principal guardian of Lake County’s open space and natural areas since 1958, the Lake County Forest Preserves manages land and offers innovative educational, recreational and cultural opportunities for all ages. Visitors enjoy nearly 31,000 acres of open space, 203 miles of trails, fishing ponds and lakes, public access to the Fox River and Lake Michigan, award-winning nature and history education programs and events, and three public golf courses.
The mission of the Preservation Foundation is to extend and accelerate the Lake County Forest Preserve’s goals through private philanthropy to restore and preserve Lake County’s natural and cultural resources in perpetuity.
