10th Annual Lake County History Symposium
Planes,Trains and Automobiles: Lake County Transportation
From railroads to car racing and leisure boating, Lake County has a long transportation history. Join us at the 10th annual Lake County History Symposium to hear local transportation stories, January 9 and 16, 2025 from 6:30–8:30 pm. Each day will feature three unique presentations, followed by engaging discussions and Q&A sessions with the speakers.
The Symposium is an annual gathering of people interested in the history of Lake County, Illinois. Professionals, students and enthusiastic historians are invited to submit proposals for presentations at the Symposium. Presentations can also be given by museums, historical societies and individuals. Submissions are accepted until November 8, 2024.

The Symposium will take place virtually on Zoom, Thursday, January 9 and 16, 2025 from 6:30–8:30 pm.
This year’s theme is Planes, Trains and Automobiles: Lake County Transportation.
Each day will feature three different presentations. Breakout rooms will be open. Questions and discussion will occur at the end of the presentations for viewers to ask questions and engage in dialogue.

Presentations should include original historical research on the theme.

Presentations should be approximately 20-30 minutes long (30 min. max) with additional time for questions.

Presentations should include a visual presentation, such as a PowerPoint or video.

Be sure to include a short biography of the presenter(s) and a description of the major primary and secondary sources used in your research. Please remember to attach any supporting documentation or photos.

Dunn Museum staff will review submissions as they come in and will reply to let you know if your submission has been accepted.

If your submission is accepted, Dunn Museum will contact you with additional information on the Symposium.
