Mike Tully
Chief Operations Officer
As Chief Operations Officer, Mike Tully is responsible for overseeing the District’s operational departments, including Operations and Infrastructure, Natural Resources, Facilities, and Public Safety. He also guides strategic planning and general district matters, and coordinates Board and Committee meetings and related correspondences.
Tully received his bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation planning and management from the University of Illinois. He has a master’s degree in park and recreation resources from Michigan State University.
Before taking on his current position, Tully held several positions within the District, including Director of Operations and Public Safety, Superintendent of Maintenance and Natural Resource Operations, Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Worker, Seasonal Laborer, and YCC Manager.
Tully is a member of the National Recreation and Park Association, Illinois Park and Recreation Association, National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials, and is the treasurer for the Illinois Association of Conservation and Forest Preserve Districts. A resident of Lake County since 1989, Tully enjoys spending time with his family hiking and biking forest preserve trails and paddling the rivers and lakes. He believes that every preserve has a unique landscape and personality that changes with the seasons.
