Old School Forest Preserve offers a convenient location, great fishing and miles of trails.

Shelter C offers the largest picnic area in this preserve, accommodating up to 500 people. This shelter area features an adjacent playfield and horseshoe pit. A playground is located nearby and is shared with other preserve visitors. Several miles of trails are accessible from this shelter, as is the countywide Des Plaines River Trail. Picnickers also have access to the preserve's 12-acre lake, stocked and managed for fishing.

The public access facilities at this preserve were designed to be in harmony with the natural landscape. Picnic shelters and parking areas are tucked away.

To access this shelter, turn right into the parking lot for the sled hill and ice skating.
