Exploring the Forest Preserves’ Newest Additions

Over the past 15 months, the Lake County Forest Preserves secured more than 280 acres through key land purchases. Backed by $20.5 million in bonds, these acquisitions expand trails, protect wetlands and woodlands, and strengthen habitat corridors.

Ray Lake, Half Day Preserves to Grow with New Acquisition

The Forest Preserves Board approved buying 48 acres to expand Ray Lake and Half Day forest preserves, protecting wetlands, woodlands and trails. Funded by a 2024 bond, the move supports habitat, water quality, and public access goals.
