Description

Situated on the scenic North Bay at Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville, this striking outdoor event pavilion and adjacent open area are perfect for a corporate picnic, outdoor wedding, family reunion or other lakeside events.

The North Bay Pavilion can accommodate 50 to 600 guests, and offers reserved parking, water and electric services, restroom facilities, picnic tables, 2’ x 4’ charcoal grill, sand volleyball court, fishing pier, stone fireplace, plus accessibility to all of Independence Grove’s open spaces and hiking trails.

North Bay Pavilion Reservations

The booking process for North Bay Pavilion is unique to other Pavilions located throughout Lake County, as the North Bay Pavilion is available for booking of catered functions through Lake County Forest Preserve’s exclusive licensee, Catering by Michaels, at (847) 213-5002, up to two years in advance. Be sure to visit their website, cateringbymichaels.com/corporate-picnics, to view the variety of menus and special services offered.

Reservations of non-catered functions at the North Bay Pavilion may be secured through the Special Event Coordinator no more than 60 days in advance of your event and no outside catering services may be utilized by your group. Within 60 days of your function date, please request your reservation for a non-catered event by returning the Reservation Form.

Dates requested between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day must be submitted to the Special Event Coordinator at jkreis@lcfpd.org no more than 60 days prior to the event date. Applications submitted before the 60 day period will be voided.

Registered non-profit groups are eligible for a discount of site reservation fees at Independence Grove, Monday-Thursday, excluding holidays, at the following rates:

Lake County Groups 20% Discount
Non-Lake County Groups 15% Discount

Pets

No dogs, horses or other pets are allowed in the preserve or preserve facilities.

Service Animals

Qualified services animals are allowed throughout the preserve and in all preserve facilities.


Rules and Regulations

For your safety and enjoyment, please...

  • Dogs and other pets are not allowed at this preserve.
  • Leave nature as you find it for others to enjoy.
  • Smoking is prohibited within 15 feet of playgrounds.
  • Clean the shelter area before leaving your event.
  • Decorations and directional signs are permitted, but may not be attached to Forest Preserves signs. Use only twine or thumbtacks to attach decorations to the shelter. Do not use any forms of tape, staple guns, nails, screws or fishing line to attach decorations. All decorations, signs, twine and thumbtacks must be removed when event is finished.
  • Alcoholic beverages are permitted; must be 21 years or older. No alcohol consumption within 100 feet of parking lots. Host liquor liability insurance is available but not mandatory.
  • Park only in lots. Loitering in lots is prohibited. Vehicles left after closing will be towed at owner's expense.
  • Service roads may be used for unloading and loading only. Do not leave vehicles parked on service road. If you need use of the service road, place a request for the gate to be dropped at the time you reserve the shelter.

Special Activities:

Any vendors hired by the permit holder to provide special activities, including catering, must be licensed with the Lake County Forest Preserve District for the current year. Approved vendors for each special activity permitted at this shelter are listed in document below.
