Author and Dunn Museum Curator Diana Dretske will discuss the lives of immigrant soldiers in the 96th Illinois Infantry and how a photograph in the Museum's collection inspired a collective biography and the first extensive look at the 96th's service since its history was published in 1887. Copies of her book, "The Bonds of War: A Story of Immigrants and Esprit de Corps in Company C. 96th Illinois Volunteer Infantry," published by SIU Press, will be available for sale.
