Museum and Cultural Resources Volunteers

cultural-resourcesCultural resources presents the history and culture of Lake County through diverse exhibits, programs and special events throughout the county. The Lake County Discovery Museum offers a variety of traveling exhibitions and is host to several large special events, including Civil War Days, the largest Civil War encampment in Illinois, and the Farm Heritage Festival.

Originally a homestead in 1842, the Bonner Heritage Farm in Lindenhurst provides an interactive space for educational programs and special events.

The Adlai E. Stevenson II Historic Home in Mettawa is a designated Illinois Historic Site and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. From April to October, the service building, and its exhibits about Stevenson's life and career, are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Guided tours are offered throughout the year for high school and community groups.

Explore cultural resources volunteer opportunities below. If one of these sounds right for you, fill out the Volunteer Interest Form, or if you have any questions, call our General Offices at 847-367-6640 and ask to speak with our cultural resources volunteer coordinator.
