Youth Group Camping

These beautiful areas provide a rustic camping experience for scouts and other organized youth groups with adult supervision. Each campground is equipped with multiple fire rings, and toilets. The camping sites can be divided between two smaller groups on a given date.

Van Patten Woods Forest Preserve | Wadsworth
Accommodates up to 60 people.

Lakewood Forest Preserve | Wauconda
Accommodates up to 40 campers.

Fox River Forest Preserve | Port Barrington
Accommodates up to 40 campers.


Permit Required

Applications for use of the campgrounds are reviewed and approved by our Ranger Police prior to issuing a permit. Permits are available after January 1 for a given year. 

Permit Fee
$60 per night, per site, Lake County residents
$120 per night, per site, nonresidents

How to Purchase
Call or visit our General Offices in Libertyville, 847-367-6640, 8 am–4:30 pm, weekdays.

There is a $5 fee to change the date, location or number of people (subject to availability) after your reservation has been finalized. Permits are not refundable.
