Who We Are

Seeking Feedback to Help us Improve Accessibility

We are currently evaluating accessibility within our forest preserves, programs, facilities and communications to ensure people with disabilities can use and enjoy them. We have retained the services of accessibility consultants, The W-T Group, to help us in this effort.

Over the last several months, The W-T Group has conducted access audits to determine any barriers for use by people with disabilities. The next steps are to hold public meetings to gather feedback, identify necessary retrofits to improve accessibility and develop a phased schedule to implement them.

Public Meetings

As a part of community outreach efforts, we would like to hear about access preferences and priorities of people with disabilities, and of agencies that serve people with disabilities. Attend one of three public meetings to share ideas and provide feedback to help us improve accessibility within our agency. At the meetings, we’ll discuss the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), review the findings of our access audits and outline priorities for improvements.

Meeting Locations

  • Tuesday, October 30: 6:30–8 pm at our General Offices, located at 1899 Winchester in Libertyville
  • Thursday, November 1: 2:30–4 pm at our Operations and Public Safety Facility, located at 19808 West Grand Avenue in Lake Villa
  • Saturday, November 3: 9:15 to 10:45 am at our Welcome Center at the Edward L. Ryerson Conservation Area, located at 21950 North Riverwoods Road in Riverwoods
