Maple Syrup Hikes

Held annually in March

Learn how trees work and about the sweet sap of sugar maples. Ryerson Woods is one of the few places in Lake County where climate conditions are right for maple syrup production, and where trees grow to a diameter and height that allows for tapping. Everyone gets a taste. Program also available as a school or scout field trip.

Civil War School Days

Held annually in May

Learn about the American Civil War firsthand as you join Civil War re-enactors and Dunn Museum staff for a day of artillery, infantry and medical demonstrations, along with performances by Harriet Tubman, President and Mrs. Lincoln, and Generals Grant and Lee. Also includes Civil War era music, stories from the Lake County home front, and more. Learn more »

Halloween Hikes

Held annually in October

Join us at Ryerson Woods for a guided group hike along a candlelit path to watch fun nature-themed skits, followed by donuts and cider. Not scary. Even your littlest will enjoy this family favorite. Learn more »
