Your Oak Woodland Neighborhood at Edward L. Ryerson Woods

Join staff from the Lake County Forest Preserves and Morton Arboretum for a guided tour through recently restored oak woodlands at Edward L. Ryerson Conservation Area (Riverwoods). Discover the natural treasures that have returned to this ecological gem. A separate, children's program will run concurrent with the adult presentation.

Staff will highlight specific restoration efforts at Ryerson and share ideas for native landscping that will enhance the surrounding landscape. Preserve neighbors, students and private landowners will learn focused ways to help restore our Urban Tree Canopy.

Children ages 4-11 will join education staff for a program all their own discovering the magic of an oak woodland through hands-on discovery and outdoor exploration. 

FREE. Registration requested.

Approximate trail distance: 1 to 1.5 miles.

Meet at Welcome Center.

Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes, trails may be muddy.

Program will run rain or shine.
