Virtual Program-Q&A with Veteran Lalena Magnetta

Ticket Required Join the Dunn Museum for a special Veterans Day discussion with veteran Lalena Zoe Magnetta. In this informal conversation, you will hear about Lalena's experience as a female veteran and have the opportunity to ask her questions. Lalena is a proud Navy veteran from Grayslake who began her military service in the wake of 9/11, participating in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

Lalena Zoe Magnetta is a proud Navy veteran from Grayslake, IL. Her military service began in the wake of 9/11 and included deployments onboard the aircraft carriers USS DWIGHT D EISENHOWER and USS JOHN C STENNIS, participating in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Committed to developing others, Lalena served as a Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, the Navy’s only Boot Camp, leading the transformation of over 1,000 young men and women into U.S. Navy Sailors.

 

Upon completion of her service, Lalena earned an MBA from Redlands University and a Master of Science from the University of Southern California. She currently works for Siemens Building Technologies as a Senior Training Specialist delivering installation and maintenance curriculum for large-scale building automation equipment to technicians and engineers.

 

Lalena maintains a commitment to her community as a member of VFW Post 2245, serves as a Woman Veteran Ambassador with Illinois Joining Forces (IJF), and holds the title of Ms. Veteran America 2019 Second Runner-Up. Additionally, she serves on the board of directors of Keeping Families Covered, a Lake County non-profit that identifies diaper need locally and provides families in need with essential items for newborn children. Lalena proudly serves in her local government as a Trustee of the Village of Grayslake.
