Concerts in the Plaza: The Chicago Skyliners Big Band

Tuesday, July 02

7:30 PM - 9 PM

All ages.

Details

These live outdoor musical performances begin at 7:30 pm every Tuesday evening, from June 18–August 6, at Independence Grove in Libertyville.

Featuring Leslie Beukelman. Formed by Bill O’Connell in 1988, the band’s sole purpose is to prolong the musical memory of the big band era. In the early days, members of the band were informed this would not be a major money-making proposition, only a mission to keep the big band sound alive. A regular house band at FitzGerald’s in Berwyn since 1991, the Chicago Skyliners are the busiest big band in Chicagoland.

Concerts are held at the preserve's outdoor amphitheater, Millennia Plaza, overlooking a 115-acre lake. Bring chairs and blankets. Arrive early to secure your spot; cars are turned away when parking is full. There is an entrance fee of $10 after 5 pm on event nights (drop-offs included). No rain dates. Café open until 9 pm. To make your concert outing even more memorable, call 847-968-3499 to reserve a pontoon boat for your group of up to eight.
