The project site is in the north central part of Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda, IL. This is a decade old prairie restoration that has been infested with small woody stemmed species that inhibits controlled burning.  The purpose of the Fecon mowing is to eliminate the small stems and allow controlled burning to re-enter the management cycle.  Foliar applied herbicide (Garlon 3A) is required as a growing season follow up in June.

The two project areas are in the north central part of Lakewood Forest Preserve.  Access to the units will be from the parking area off of Gilmer Road, north of Route 176.  Equipment access will be via the trail, until closest to the unit.

Mechanical mowing must be complete by March 1^st, 2021. Herbicide application by June 15, 2021, plus extensions, if any, authorized by a Change Order issued pursuant to Article II of the Contract.
