Join us to observe the spectacular evening sky dance of the American woodcock. One of Lake County's spring wonders, learn about this peculiar looking bird and its marvelous tactics to win over a mate.

One of the earliest signs of spring is the American woodcock's mating dance. Woodcocks are reclusive, ground-dwelling birds related to the sandpiper. For a brief period in the spring at dusk and dawn, males can be observed taking off into the sky with a song and a dance that is sure to impress!

Meet in the parking lot. Trails may be muddy. Please dress for the weather as this program is entirely outdoors.
