Museum Volunteers

cultural-resourcesThe Dunn Museum offers a unique look into Lake County’s past through diverse exhibits, programs and special events throughout the county. The Museum hosts several large special events each year, including Civil War Days, the largest Civil War encampment in Illinois, and the Lake County History Symposium. Volunteers here can interact with the public by helping with front desk services and education programming, or by working with staff to help maintain the collection.

The Bonner Heritage Farm in Lindenhurst, originally a homestead in 1842, provides an interactive space for educational programs and special events. Volunteers here can help with our growing garden and events.

The Adlai E. Stevenson II Historic Home in Mettawa is a designated Illinois Historic Site and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. From April to October, the service building, and its exhibits about Stevenson's life and career, are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Become a docent to help with guided tours which are offered throughout the year for high school and community groups.

Explore Museum and education volunteer opportunities below. If one of these sounds right for you, fill out the Volunteer Interest Form. If you have any questions, call our General Offices at 847-367-6640 and ask to speak with our museum volunteer coordinator.
