On the evening of Saturday, August 2, Lake County Forest Preserves Ranger Police Officer Logan Dreyer was on duty at a private event being hosted at the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago when he was called to action. A baby at the event had stopped breathing and was not moving.

Officer Dreyer immediately called 911 and then began administering infant CPR to the 15-month-old baby boy in an effort to revive him. The baby began breathing on his own but only took a few breaths at a time before stopping again. Each time the baby stopped breathing, Officer Dreyer continued to administer CPR until North Chicago Fire Department Paramedics arrived and took over the effort.

The baby was then transported to Vista Medical Center in Waukegan. The family reports that the incident may have been caused by a seizure, and that the baby has been released from the hospital and is doing very well. Swift and decisive action by Officer Dreyer, trained in CPR for infants and adults, contributed to the baby's survival.
