Phenology and Photography

Advance your photography skills and knowledge of the natural calendar during adventures in the field with pro-photographer Candace Johnson and staff naturalist Allison Frederick.

This workshop is for serious amateur photographers. Join Johnson and Frederick in the field as they point out interesting landscapes and the local flora and fauna related to the current season. Familiarize yourself with the mental checklist of how to best represent a photo subject in terms of its environmental context, composition, exposure and use of natural lighting.

Requirements for attendees:

DSLR (preferred) or SLR (film/analog) camera body with manual exposure capability
Any lenses owned (e.g. wide, telephoto, macro, etc.)
Tripod (able to carry during our hike)
Ability to operate your camera in manual mode

Section Instructions:

The program is completely outside. Please dress for the weather and wear shoes that can get wet and muddy. If inclement weather occurs, participants can call 847-968-3113 one hour prior to the class for an update and reschedule information.
