Preserve Picnic Shelters

Half Day: Shelter C

Description

Shelter C is the most secluded of Half Day Forest Preserve's picnic areas. It is located near a small pond and the Des Plaines River Trail.

The shelter area features a horseshoe pit and a nearby open area for your informal soccer, softball or volleyball game (bring your own equipment). Picnickers also have access to the preserve's fishing ponds and trails for hiking or bicycling, including the countywide Des Plaines River Trail.

Note: water is not available from mid-October to May 1. No open area permits are available at this preserve. When booking two shelters, use A and B.

To access this shelter, turn right into the third parking area, then bear left for the Shelter C lot.
