Half Day: Shelter B
Description
Shelter B at Half Day Forest Preserve is adjacent to the countywide Des Plaines River Trail. Use this shelter as your home base for a group hike or explore the scenic trails at Half Day and connecting Wright Woods.
The shelter area features a horseshoe pit and an adjacent playfield for your informal soccer, softball or volleyball game (bring your own equipment). A fun and safe playground, open to all preserve visitors, is located near Shelters A and B. Picnickers also have access to the preserve's fishing pond and trails for hiking or bicycling.
Note: water is not available from mid-October to May 1. No open area permits are available at this preserve. In order to have live music or a DJ, you must rent both Shelters A and B (to avoid imposing upon a different party at the nearby shelter). When booking two shelters, use A and B.
To access this shelter, park in the second lot on your right, which is shared with Shelter A or continue on to the third lot. Either way, your shelter is just a short walk down an accessible trail.
