On Friday, October 14, our General Offices at 2000 North Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville officially closed, reopening at the new location at 1899 West Winchester Road in Libertyville on Monday, October 17. Map it.

Our new General Offices houses nearly 100 Forest Preserve staff responsible for administration, planning, natural resources, land acquisition, public information, education and registration, as well as a public meeting room. Our Operations and Public Safety Facility in Lindenhurst houses nearly 45 Forest Preserve staff responsible for preserve maintenance, construction operations, natural resources and public safety.

Public Services

Although many everyday transactions can be handled on our website, such as picnic shelter reservations, Dog Exercise Area, equestrian and other permits - if you'd like to handle these things in person, our customer service staff will be happy to help. You'll find them on the first floor of our General Offices in Libertyville and at our Operations and Public Safety Facility in Lindenhurst.

History

Museum Relocation

In two to three years, the Lake County Discovery Museum will make the move from its current location at Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda to the General Offices building. Private donations will be raised to fund the move. The first and second floor will provide more than twice the gallery space for exhibitions and a more controlled environment to store collections, better preserving Lake County history.

The central-county location near public transit and major roadways is expected to increase accessibility and public attendance, as well. Lakewood will continue to host popular annual outdoor events such as Civil War Days in July and the Farm Heritage Festival in September.
