Wildlife & Habitat Restoration
Lake County is home to more endangered and threatened species than any other county in Illinois. At your Lake County Forest Preserves, we're working to preserve and restore the habitats that our native wildlife and plants need to survive and thrive. Wildlife can be fun and exciting, especially if you learn a few key steps to avoid potential problems in and around your home.
Programs and Events
In addition to our award winning facilities and preserves, the Lake County Forest Preserve District offers many exciting programs and events throughout the year about nature, history and culture.
Museums, Education and Visitor Centers
The Lake County Forest Preserve District has many facilities for your enjoyment, including Bonner Heritage Farm, the Curt Teich Postcard Archives, the Greenbelt Cultural Center, Independence Grove, the Lake County Discovery Museum and History Archives and Ryerson Woods.
Teachers and Youth Leaders
Whether you teach social studies, science, history or English or volunteer as a Scout leader, a full spectrum of interdisciplinary educational programs and tours will help you keep your K-12 students motivated year-round. We also offer continuing education credit for teachers and professional staff needing CPDUs for recertification.
