Forth Annual Book Fair Event
If you’re looking for a great way to finish your holiday shopping while also contributing to a favorite local attraction, check out the fourth annual
Barnes and Noble Book Fair event December 8.
Here’s how it works. When you visit any Barnes and Noble bookstore and present this Book Fair
voucher, a percentage of your purchase, even café treats, will benefit the
Lake County Discovery Museum. You can also make qualifying purchases online or by phone using the same voucher from December 8 -13.
Stop by the
Vernon Hills Barnes and Noble at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, to hear Katherine Hamilton-Smith, Museum Director, discuss the future of the Lake County Discovery Museum, its upcoming move to Libertyville, and the Museum’s current exhibition,
Classic Images: Ansel Adams.
For more information about the Barnes and Noble Book Fair event, call 847-247-1157 or visit the
Book Fair’s event page.
Ansel Adams: Final Weeks
This exhibition features 70 images from
The Museum Set, a rare portfolio of photographs hand-printed by the artist (and considered by him to be the best of his life's work). The inspiring images of the Sierra Nevada, the sun-baked geometries of New Mexico, and the keen eye for the rhythmic detail of the natural world which characterizes Adam's work, are included in this authoritative collection.

The Blues: From the Heart & Soul
From playbills and autographs to the original musical instruments that created some of the most influential music in American history,
The Blues: From the Heart & Soul brings the sound and feel of the Chicago blues scene to the galleries of the Lake County Discovery Museum. Sponsored by the
Daily Herald, this exhibition features the private collection of internationally known Chicago blues pianist Barrelhouse Chuck Goering. Open February 18 through August 19.
