As principal guardian of Lake County's open space and natural areas since 1958, we set the standard in nature and historic preservation, and in outdoor recreation and education.
Each year, we purchase millions of dollars of goods and services from a variety of contractors, suppliers and businesses to help us complete large preserve and trail construction projects, implement land management efforts, acquire equipment and perform professional services.

Our open bid and solicitation procedures ensure a fair and competitive process of securing the best value for taxpayers of Lake County, Illinois. Projects under $30,000 are subject to small dollar purchase procedures and informal quotations. Those over $30,000 are subject to formal bidding procedures.
All required goods and services are purchased in conformance with Illinois laws and regulations, the District's purchasing ordinance and administrative policies, and related resolutions of our Board of Commissioners.

Prevailing Wage Rates for Lake County
The current Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) schedule contains the prevailing wage rates required to be paid for work performed on public works projects in Lake County. Pursuant to 820 ILCS 130/4, public bodies in each county that have active public works projects are responsible for notifying all contractors and subcontractors working on those public works projects of the change (if any) to rates that were previously in effect. This information and link to the IDOL’s schedule satisfies the state’s requirement that we provide electronic access to this notice via our website.
