Local Wildlife
Imagine waking up one day and the melodies of songbirds have ceased, crickets aren't chirping, squirrels no longer jump from tree to tree, black-eyed susans aren't swaying in prairies and cranes no longer stop here to refuel before making their way south. It's a disheartening thought and one we hope never becomes a reality. You may very well be one of the many Illinois landowners, businesses, homeowners or natural resource agencies that have worked hard to reestablish threatened or endangered species over the many years. Creating habitat for valuable wildlife in Illinois and the world, where space is limited due to constant growth and development, is a difficult task. But it can be as simple as working together to restore and protect our many natural habitats and the plants and animals that depend on them.
