Independence Grove Visitors Center

Walls of windows in this beautifully designed 19,000-square-foot facility provide panoramic views of the lake and preserve. The open interior features banquet and meeting space, a classroom, preserve information, and occasional photo exhibitions that display the work of local artists. A large pavilion and a variety of other scenic outdoor spaces can be reserved for your special event. Indoor and Outdoor Venues

Audubon Hall, the Millennia Plaza, and the North Bay Pavilion can be reserved for weddings, banquets, reunions, picnics and other private celebrations, corporate meetings and retreats, and community functions.

Audubon Hall :: Capacity 350

Located within the Visitors Center, the Audubon Hall features elevated ceilings and a spacious design, making it the perfect setting for your next celebration or corporate meeting. More intimate settings are available by reserving one of the smaller partitioned spaces. For warm weather events, the indoor space flows easily outdoors onto a covered veranda.

Millennia Plaza

The picturesque Millennia Plaza and surrounding amphitheater, fountain and native garden make an ideal outdoor setting for a variety of special programs, events and celebrations. The native garden showcases flowers and foliage, a sculptured fountain, wooden pergola and gazebo, wood and wrought iron benches and winding red brick walkways.

North Bay Pavilion :: Capacity 500

Situated on the preserve's scenic North Bay, this striking lakeside pavilion and adjacent open area are perfect for an outdoor company picnic, wedding, family reunion or other event. The pavilion offers a stone fireplace, picnic tables, drinking water, electricity, parking, toilets, trail access, fishing pier, playfield and sand volleyball court.

Café

Located on the north side of the Visitors Center, the café is open seasonally and sells snacks, light entrees, beverages and ice cream from a convenient walk-up window.


Pets

No dogs, horses or other pets are allowed in the preserve or preserve facilities.

Service Animals

Qualified services animals are allowed throughout the preserve and in all preserve facilities.

Parking

Preserve hours: 6:30 am to sunset, daily.

Visitors Center hours: 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, unless otherwise posted.

Free for Lake County residents. Driver's license is required for proof of residency.
$6 per car for nonresidents, Mon–Thu, $12 Fri–Sun and holidays. Fees collected spring through fall.
During Concerts in the Plaza summer music series, June–August:
$10 per car after 5 pm on concert days (Tuesdays, rain or shine) for concertgoers and all other preserve visitors. Cars are turned away when parking is full.
Vehicle window sticker available
$5 for Lake County residents only. Purchase at Visitors Center.
Sticker allows visitors to bypass showing the required proof of county residency on each visit. Just point out your sticker to the gate attendant to be waved through. Sticker is good for the life of the vehicle's window and is not transferable. It is not valid after 5 pm on Concerts in the Plaza concert nights.

 

The Natural Scene

This dramatic building offers panoramic views of the lake and preserve. The open interior offers banquet and meeting space, a classroom, nature and history exhibits, and a cafe.

The Visitors Center at Independence Grove is an exclusive venue to Relish Events at Independence Grove. A variety of scenic event spaces with stunning views of the 115-acre lake and surrounding preserve, makes this an ideal location for wedding ceremonies, corporate outings and meetings, picnics, receptions, and so much more.

Location

The entrance is on Buckley Road (Route 137) east of Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21). Follow signs to the Visitors Center.
