In honor of David Burnham, The Burnham Plan Centennial celebrates the Bold Plans and Big Dreams that shaped Chicago for the past century. Hundreds of organizations throughout the Chicago region have planned commemorative activities this summer.
To honor this exciting milestone, we invite you to step up to a special anniversary version of our Hike Lake County program. Take the challenge and hike, bike or ride (on horseback) 100 miles on a combination of any Lake County trails between June 1 and November 30. There are hundreds of miles of community and Lake County Forest Preserve trails from which to choose (e.g. Millennium Trail, Des Plaines River Trail, North Shore Bike Path, etc…).
This 100-Mile challenge is offered in conjunction with the annual Hike Lake County program, which runs every year from August 15 through November 30. The 12 designated Hike Lake County trails will be marked beginning August 15 and can be counted towards your 100-mile goal in the hiking category only.
To be eligible for rewards, your 100 miles must include visits to at least five different trails, and mileage must be logged on the form provided. Completed forms will be accepted from August 15, 2009 through January 31, 2010. Please drop-off, mail or fax (847-367-6649) your form to receive your rewards.
To gauge trail distances, view trail maps posted at the preserves or download them. Community trail map information is available at various locations.
