The boom of cannons, the crack of rifle shots, and the galloping of horse hooves will welcome you to the 19th annual Civil War Days encampment at Lakewood Forest Preserve.
- See large scale battle reenactments Saturday and Sunday.
- Meet President & Mrs. Lincoln, Civil War era generals, Harriet Tubman & Sojourner Truth.
- Wander through civilian camps to see artisans and tradesmen at work.
- Experience a soldier's life with reenactments of pay day, weapon checks, drills and mail call.
- See drills and demonstrations by cavalry, infantry and artillery units.
- Enjoy period kids' crafts and games and go on a scavenger hunt.
- Explore public amusements and horticultural and domestic arts exhibitions at the 1863 Summer Fair.
