Public Open House
The Committee will hold an Open House to receive public comments on options under consideration for public uses at the Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve. The Open House will be held 5 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, August 26 at the Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest. Golf Course Renovation
The golf course was constructed by the Army in the late 1960s. It opened for public play in May 1994 when the Lake County Forest Preserve District assumed ownership.
Master Plan Advisory Committee
A Fort Sheridan Master Plan Advisory Committee has been created to make a recommendation about the future of the golf course. The committee's purpose is to reach a consensus on preferred public uses at the Fort Sheridan Preserve and present recommendations to the Forest Preserve Board. Committee members include representatives from neighboring cities and park districts, Forest Preserve Commissioners from those communities, the Fort Sheridan Homeowners Association, the U.S. Department of the Army and the 10th District Congressional office.
