Whether you teach social studies, science, history or language arts, or volunteer as a Scout leader, the Lake County Forest Preserves offers a full spectrum of interdisciplinary educational programs that will help you keep your students motivated year-round.
Because Fort Sheridan is a unique resource in Lake County , we wanted to give educators the opportunity to “visit” the fort with their classes even if they couldn't be there physically. The Explore the Fort curriculum is comprised of a complete educator's guide with 15 lesson plans, a 40-minute video documentary, and other supplemental teaching materials.
The lesson plans themselves are: Designed for a middle-school audience
Mapped to Learning Standards from the Illinois State Board of Education.
Cross-curricular in focus (social studies, language arts, mathematics, and science)
