Outdoor workshop for serious amateur photographers. Meet the photographer of this issue's cover image, Jeff Goldberg. Join us, as we take advantage of sunset over the savanna and explore the wonders of light painting after full dark.
Advance your photography skills and knowledge of the natural calendar during adventures in the field with professional photographer, Jeff Goldberg, and a staff naturalist. This workshop is for serious amateur photographers. Each session focuses on a particular subject and photographic technique related to the current season.
Join us on a summer evening to explore the beauty of Rollins Savanna. A naturalist will lead a tour of the preserve as the sun sets. After dark falls, we will experiment with light painting, a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photo.
As we hike, we will search for photo subjects of seasonal interest. Rollins Savanna will provide a picturesque landscape to enjoy a summer sunset. The shifting surroundings, setting sun, and rising moon will allow plenty of practice for representing photo subjects in terms of environmental context, composition, exposure and use of natural lighting.
Requirements for attendees:
• DSLR (preferred) or SLR (film/analog) camera body with manual exposure capability
• Any lenses owned (e.g. wide, telephoto, macro, etc.)
• Tripod (able to carry during our hike)
• Ability to operate your camera in manual mode
• Layered clothing, hiking shoes/boots and a flashlight
Park at the Washington Street entrance.
