Phenology and Photography
Outdoor workshop for serious amateur photographers. Naturalists will guide you to the highest natural point in Lake County to enjoy the Full Harvest Moon. Along the way we will search for photo subjects of seasonal interest.

Advance your photography skills and knowledge of the natural calendar during adventures in the field with staff naturalists. This workshop is for serious amateur photographers. Each session focuses on a particular subject and photographic technique related to the current season.

Join us on a hike to the highest point in Lake County. Naturalists will provide a tour of Gander Mountain on the evening of the Full Harvest Moon. As we climb to the highest point, we will search for photo subjects of seasonal interest. Views from the top will provide picturesque landscape photos and an exciting spot to enjoy the full moon rise. The shifting surroundings, setting sun and rising moon will allow plenty of practice for representing photo subjects in terms of environmental context, composition, exposure and use of natural lighting.

Requirements for attendees:
• DSLR (preferred) or SLR (film/analog) camera body with manual exposure capability
• Any lenses owned (e.g. wide, telephoto, macro, etc.)
• Tripod (able to carry during our hike)
• Ability to operate your camera in manual mode
• Layered clothing, hiking shoes/boots and a flashlight

Watch for signs to parking area. Park inside the entrance gate as directed by staff.

This program is held completely outdoors, partially at night. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes for hiking. If inclement weather occurs, participants can call the programming hotline at 847‑968‑3113 one hour prior to the class for an update and or reschedule information.
