Owner invites sealed Bidder’s Proposals for the Work described in detail in the Contract and generally described as follows:
The Work of this project shall include all labor, materials, and equipment to complete control of select invasive plants, including, but not limited to: Reed Canary Grass (Phalaris arundinacea), Teasel (Dipsacus spp.), Cattails (Typha spp.), Common Reed (Phragmites australis), Fig Buttercup (Ranunculus ficaria), Crown vetch (Coronilla varia), Common goldenrod (Solidago altissima), Buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica and Frangula alnus), Garden Heliotrope (Valeriana officinalis), Birdsfoot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), Thistles (Cirsium arvence, Carduus nutans, Carduus vulgare, and others), Clovers (Melilotis alba, Melilotis officinalis, Trifolium pretense), Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria), Yellow Iris (Iris pseudoacorus), Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima), Callery/Bradford Pear (Pyrus calleryana), Oriental Bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus), and various cool-season grasses at Middlefork Savanna Forest Preserve.
Work shall include selective foliar spray and wick application of herbicide with back pack sprayers and wick applicators, hand swiping, wick barring, and chemical treatment of small woody vines/trees/shrubs. Use of an ATV for access may be necessary. Broadcast application is a method used infrequently, but may be necessary, including application from a boom apparatus attached to an ATV. All necessary herbicides, surfactants, water conditioners, and dye shall be provided by the Contractor and included in the Contract Price.
Contractors shall provide all labor and equipment, including vehicles, sprayers, wick applicators, trailers, ATV’s, other equipment, and time for travel and mixing of herbicide (off-site), etc., based on an hourly rate, to complete the projects. Hourly rate shall include any project management, herbicide mixing and preparation, herbicide application reporting, and or oversight of the field crew deemed necessary by the contractor.
Contractor shall have the capacity to provide a crew of up to five people, as wells as any necessary equipment listed above, within 24 hours of the Owner’s request.
