Owner invites sealed Bidder’s Proposals for the Work described in detail in the Contract and generally described as follows:

The goal of this project is to restore open savanna/woodland structure to the oak woodlands at Lakewood Forest Preserve (Work Site).  The work of this project includes all labor, materials and equipment to remove or girdle invasive trees and shrubs of various species and sizes across 37.6 acres.  Work shall include mechanical and hand cutting (chain saws, hand saws, tracked skid-loaders, forestry mowers, feller-bunchers etc.), girdling, brush disposal via brush pile burning and/or chipping (and hauling off-site), and selective wick herbicide application to cut stumps and follow-up wick foliar application of resprouts and small stems.

Clearing areas are located in and adjacent to high quality wetland and aquatic habitats noted for their abundance of State Threatened/Endangered species.   Special care must be taken to not adversely impact ecologically sensitive areas including wetlands, wetland edges, steep slopes, and erosional areas (existing gullies).  Equipment use in these areas will be limited or prohibited due to the potential for ecological damage/rutting/erosion and lack of access by equipment/machinery.
