The Lake County Discovery Museum is home to a variety of permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Mall of History
Learn about Lake County's rich cultural and environmental history from glaciers to statehood and beyond in the Mall of History. Visitors to the Mall can take an excursion into Lake County's famous lotus beds, view some of the earliest known artifacts from Lake County's once thriving motion picture industry, or learn about the largest train robbery in U.S. history. "Kids' Stops" throughout the exhibit provide hands-on activities for children

Children's Learning Gallery
The museum's prairie themed play area and learning space is designed especially for children 10 and under. The gallery features a variety of hands-­on activities for kids including a puppet log, leaf-blowing stump and a variety of prairie themed interactives that are designed to encourage exploration and help children develop motor skills, express their creativity and learn about nature.
The Children’s Learning Gallery is occasionally closed for education programs. Call 847-968-3400 for daily hours.

Vortex Roller Coaster Theater
Be whooshed into the past in the Vortex Roller Coaster Theater. Enjoy 10 minutes of spine-tingling thrills as you ride through 10,000 years of Lake County's history.

Bringing the World Home
Explore the wonderful world of picture postcards through images from the Curt Teich Postcard Archives. Learn about the history and significance of postcards and see how postcards were made by the Curt Teich Company of Chicago.
