Stargazing – Solar Flares
Can radioactive elements on earth actually predict solar flares? A member of the Skokie Valley Astronomers will discuss some new scientific results that seem to suggest that the rate of decay of radioactive elements on earth could actually predict the appearance of solar flares.
The Skokie Valley Astronomers meet the second Friday of each month. Their meetings are open to the public and include a presentation on topics in astronomy. Following the indoor presentation, they move outdoors to view the night sky, weather permitting. Club members have on hand a variety of equipment for public sky viewing. If you're interested in amateur astronomy, or even if you're just curious, attend a monthly meeting.
