Fall Festival

Celebrate Ethel’s Legacy at the annual Ryerson Woods Fall Festival.

The event features special activities designed to honor the efforts of Ethel Untermyer, the 33-year-old homemaker who initiated the founding of the Lake County Forest Preserve District in 1957.

Help us commemorate Ethel's memory as a civic leader and poet by taking poetry walks through the woods of Ryerson, and writing and sharing nature poems at Ethel’s "Poet-Tree."

The Fall Festival also features games, crafts, and wagon rides at the height of fall color.
