The American Soldier at the Lake County Discovery Museum

The American Soldier: A Photographic Tribute, a traveling exhibition of photographs, from the Civil War to the war in Iraq, will be on display at the Lake County Discovery Museum, near Wauconda, from October 4, 2008 through February 15, 2009.

The American Soldier is a dramatic exhibition of photographs that captures the essence of American soldiering over more than 150 years. The 116 enlarged photographs cover America at war from the Civil War, Spanish American War, Boxer Rebellion, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, U.S. operations in Afghanistan, and the Iraq war. The exhibition captures the danger, frustration, humor, beauty, camaraderie, death and victory that The American Soldier encountered in his odyssey through history.

About the Museum

The Lake County Discovery Museum is located in the Lakewood Forest Preserve at the corner of Route 176 and Fairfield Road, in Wauconda. The museum is open Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $2.50 for youth (ages 4-17) and free for youth 3 and under.
