Bonner Farm exhibits and other improvements

New interactive exhibits at the Bonner Heritage Farm located on Sand Lake Road near Lindenhurst opened in 2004. The exhibits include larger-than-life metal livestock, a windmill and weather station, and a hands-on children's play maze. Life-size cut-outs tell the story of the Bonner family and farming in Lake County.

A connection to the the District's planned 35-mile Millennium Trail is available from this site. Toilets and drinking water are available at the Lindenhurst Park District's adjacent Millennium Park.

Funding for the exhibits was provided by two Illinois Public Museum Capital Grants awarded in 2001 and 2002.  Forest Preserve referendum bonds approved by Lake County voters paid to restore the buildings and provide other site improvements.
