Fourth Lake, 40.9-acre addition

Purchase Date: November 29, 2000
Purchase Price: $680,000
Number of Acres: 40.9

The Scopelliti property is located on Grand Avenue just west of Route 45 near Lake Villa.

The property contains significant portions of a valuable Advance Identification (ADID) wetland and a dense area of oak woodlands. The wetland connects to the fen at neighboring Fourth Lake Forest Preserve. Protected within the oak woodlands is an isolated wetland of excellent quality.

The Scopelliti land buy also offers an important link in the planned 35-mile Millennium Trail to connect central, western and northern Lake County communities and Forest Preserves. In addition, the site contains a 2,500-square-foot building that is an ideal location for plant seed drying and storage for the Forest Preserves native prairie restoration program.
